Welcome to Tutor Village, where education is not just a service, but a passion. Founded by two UK-qualified teachers, our journey began with a shared love for teaching and a commitment to empowering students on their educational path. With international teaching experience, we have developed an approach that supports non-native English speakers in making progress. At Tutor Village, we understand the challenges students face in today’s educational landscape and believe in complementing their in-school learning rather than replacing it. Our mission is to create a nurturing environment that fosters a positive teacher-student relationship, where making mistakes is not a setback but a stepping stone to success. Join us on this educational journey and unlock your full potential with Tutor Village.

Here you can find out who we are, why we tutor, what we offer, as well as where and when.
As a student of mathematics for over 25 years (and counting!), I have dedicated the past five years to making mathematics accessible to secondary students around the world.
After graduating from the University of Birmingham with a 1st Class BSc Hons in Economics, I worked as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant at professional services firm, PwC.
In search of a more fulfilling profession, I made the move into teaching through the Teach First programme in 2018 as a secondary mathematics teacher. Since then, I have taught as a qualified classroom teacher in the UK and as a Head of Department (Mathematics, Science, and Design) in China helping students from the age of 10 to 19 achieve their academic and personal goals.
My decision to found this tutoring school began with the idea that mathematics should be a something that every student excels in (and, dare I say, even enjoy!). I love being a teacher, but I wanted to continue making an impact outside of the traditional classroom.
I always strive to adopt teaching approaches backed by evidence, so here are some key pieces of research that influenced my decision. Evidence indicates that:

My teaching philosophy goes beyond grammar rules; I foster a love for English as a tool for effective communication. I teach English through captivating stories and vocabulary exploration, helping students create their own compelling narratives and breathe life into the language.
I believe that learning Mathematics should go far beyond rote learning and memorisation. Instead, I strive to encourage curiosity and support my students to discover patterns and connections. Mathematics is the language of our universe and should be accessible to all ages and abilities.
